ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the feature and rehabilitation of ataxia post 5 times recurrence of hemangioblastoma. Methods A case was reviewed combined with literatures. Results The patient presented cerebellar ataxia after 5 times recurrence of hemangioblastoma. The score of Fugl-Meyer Assessment of balance increased from 4 to 13, while the modified Barthel Index from 50 to 90 after 3 months of reha-bilitation. Conclusion Rehabilitation may improve the activeties of daily living and balance for patient with ataxia after multiple recurrences of hemangioblastoma.

ABSTRACT

@#Agitation, aggression and depression are frequent neurobehavioral sequalae after injury of brain. These behavioural symptoms disrupted patient care and impede rehabilitation effort. In severe cases, the patient even hurts others and sometime injuries himself. This article introduces the use of antipsychotics, mood stablizing, lithium, antianxiety medication and antidepressants especially the SSRIs for the emotion disturbance after injury of brain. Meantime, paper describes the 5-HT syndrome, withdrawal 5-HT syndrome, the neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). The later is owing to wrong use of phenothiazines and butyrophenones. The mortality of NMS is about 25%, if case treats is not correct.

ABSTRACT

@#Motor function is the main function of human being takes place the social activities in the world. Unfortunately, regardless of either CNS or PNS injury, the outcome usually is paralysis. Up to date there is still no drug may restore the function of paralyzed limbs rapidly, completely and satisfactorily. However, the scientist have used drugs to enhance motor function recovery after brain injury and got some effects since the mid of past century, e.g. the amphetamine. The function of amphetamine, notwithstanding was denied by Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense Clinical Practice Guideline for the Management of Adult Stroke Rehabilitation Care in 2005, however, there were other reports concerning with same purpose study, that may facilitate the recovery of motor function, e.g. Fluoxetine, Selegiline, L-dopa and so on. In the meantime, there also found some drugs with opposite effect and slowing the functional recovery, e.g., Haloperidol, Prazosin, Phenytoin and so forth.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo explore the pathogeny, diagnosis and rehabilitation of central pontine myelinolysis.MethodsClinical data of four patients with central potine myelinolysis were studied retrospectively.ResultsAll of them had pseudobulbar palsy and dystonia; three had coma; two had history of hyposodemia ameliorated rapidly, one had history of hypersodemia ameliorated rapidly. All of them had focuses in pons; three had focuses beyond pons. All patients had good prognoses.ConclusionHistory of hyposodemia ameliorated rapidly is a usual pathogeny of central potine myelinolysis, integrative measures of rehabilitation can improve prognosis and quality of daily life.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo study the effect of rehabilitation treatment on diffuse axonal injury(DAI).Methods24 inpatients with DAI were performed a 3 month rehabilitation program. Before and after rehabilitation treatment, evaluation of locomotion function, walking ability, activities of daily living(ADL) and cognitive ability were performed and compared with each other.ResultsThe hand function showed no distinct change(P>0.05), while the locomotion function of upper limb was improved significantly(P<0.05), and that of lower limb was improved more significantly (P<0.01) as while as the walking ability.ADL and cognitive ability were improved very more significantly (P<0.001).ConclusionsIntegrative rehabilitation treatment cannot significantly improve the hand function of patients with DAI, but can significantly improve the locomotion function of upper and lower limb,ADL and cognitive ability.
